Our History
Our roots can be traced back to 1989 as a service provider to schools in New Zealand, but we have since expanded these services and global reach to deliver in more than 30 countries. Now, we cover a range of sectors including public, private and not-for-profit organisations, with six international offices dedicated to delivering our products globally.
All around the world, we help people learn at every level. What unites us is our desire to use education to transform lives.
Our profits contribute to the Trust, who supports educational initiatives that draw on collaboration and evidence, to increase capabilities of individuals and communities, maximising their potential to create a fairer society.
Our timeline
1989
We began as Multi Serve, providing payroll management and transport services to New Zealand schools.
2004-2007
We expanded into the Middle East and rebranded as Cognition Education.
2010
We reached a milestone of 400 employees across New Zealand and the Middle East.
2011
We developed the well-known Visible Learning Plus professional development programme.
2012
Cognition Education began working in Australia, the Solomon Islands, the Cook Islands and Tonga.
2015
We acquire Wavelength.
2016
The Cognition Education Group is born. We acquire Begin Bright, open our first Sydney office, and also open our first Manchester office.
2019
Cognition opens our Malaysia office.
2021
Cognition Education and Wavelength continue to build their presence in the Pacific Islands, and the Group opens its first Pacific office in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
2022
Cognition Education Group rebrands to Cognition Learning Group to reflect the impact we have on all types of learners. We also acquire a new business, Aspire Development.
2025
Our award-winning digital learning brand, Wavelength Learning, and Aspire Development, our expert leadership and management skills company, join forces as Cognition Evolve.
